New student members are nominated directly by their departments each February. The nominations are forwarded to the Chapter's nominating committee for review and presentation to the membership at the annual meeting. The number of students inducted into the Chapter each year cannot exceed 10% of the graduating class. The qualifications for nomination to student membership are:

1. Nominees must have earned a bachelor's degree or equivalent or higher.
2. Nominees must have completed one full year of academic courses or be in the last rating period leading to an advanced degree in public health.
3. Nominees must place in the upper twenty-five percent in class standing.
4. Nominees must demonstrate real or potential qualities of leadership in public health in addition to academic excellence.
5. Nominees must receive an advanced degree in public health during the current academic year (graduation dates of June, August, and December of prior year; and April of current year).

New faculty and alumni members are nominated by the general membership of the Omicron Chapter. The nominations must be sent to the nominating committee in writing with supporting documentation by the end of January. The nominating committee reviews the nominations and develops a slate of candidates for the annual meeting of the membership in March. The number of faculty initiated into the Chapter each year cannot exceed 3% of the School's total faculty or 5, whichever is less; the number of alumni initiates cannot exceed 10. For faculty inductees, particular attention is paid to outstanding public health performance in scholarship, teaching, research, and the quality of publications. For alumni inductees, attention is paid to graduates of GSPH whose work in the practice of public health would serve as a model for future graduates of the School.
